First state of the reworked continental map by Guillaume Sanson, based on the wall map of his father Nicolas. The map depicts large parts of the continent in great detail, incl. a large insular California, and even depicts Iceland and the British Isles. However, the northwest is empty and a large decorative title cartouche is placed in the left upper corner. First published in a later ed. of Sanson's "Cartes générales de toutes les parties du monde [...]" (1670). Verso blank.
