Later ed. (1st 1569) of this autobiographic bestseller and historical source of prime value for the reign of François I. The four Bellay brothers served the king by robe or sword: Guillaume, lord of Langey (1491-1543) and Jean, bishop of Bayonne (1492-1560) were responsible for delicate negotiations in Italy, René (1500-1546 ) was bishop of Le Mans and Martin (1495-1559) lieutenant general of Normandy.
