3 vol., 4to: xl-347, vii-[1 bl.]-452, viii-372 pp. (upper margins of first ff. of vol. I and title of vol. III restored, marg. dampstaining in vol. I and III, some foxing, sl. age-toned, some ff. sl. browned in vol. II and III, upper margins of pp. III and V of vol. III very to sl. browned, long tear in p. 143 of vol. I strengthened, brown stain to upper part of title of vol. II with sm. lack repaired).
Contemp. mottled calf, gilt-orn. spines with raised bands, red spr. edges (very rubbed, joints part. split, some stains, heads and tails missing, tail of vol. III repaired).
Study on coins of Roman emperors until Julius Caesar (1st Paris, 1692) based on specimens the author (1632-1706) had brought from his many travels or had seen in cabinets of curiosities. This edition is given by Giovanni Francesco Baldini (1677-1764) who added coins discovered after the death of Vaillant and continued the work until Constantine I. Illustrated with more than 350 copper-engr. in-text, c. 140 orn. tailpieces (repeats), some headpieces (one armorial), initials and different title-vignettes (all copper-engr.).
