1st 8vo edition of the report of Levaillant's second expedition. This voyage brought him to Namaqualand, Damaraland, Bechcuanaland and the Kalahari Desert. The pl. depict several peculiar or newly discovered animals and plants, such as the so-called "Oiseau à cou-de-Serpent", the giraffe and two amazing heads of a hippopotamus. Other pl. show local people and some landscape views.
