Description du lot
7 copper engrs, 41 x 54 cm (central folds, reinforced margins, small stains).
A set of 7 (of 9) views of Rome representing: the Papal Basilica of St. Peter in the Vatican, Santa Maria Maggiore, Santi Vincenzo e Anastasio alle Tre Fontane, St. Paul's outside the Walls, Saint Lawrence outside the Walls, Saint Sebastian at the Catacombs and the Basilica of the Holy Cross in Jerusalem. The collection "Le sette chiese di Roma" was included in Antonio Lafreri's "Speculum Romanae magnificentiae" (1575) after the heirs of Claude Duchet and Nicolo van Aelst took over the publication of Antonio Lafreri's "Speculum Romanae Magnificentiae" in 1594.
