19th-c. gilt cherry morocco by Trautz-Bauzonnet, covers with triple gilt ruled border, richly gilt spine on 5 raised bands, gilt sides, richly gilt inside dentelles, dark leather doublures, a.e.g. (over marbl. edges), marbl. flylvs, blue silk marker. Excellent well-preserved copy.
Extr. rare (3rd recorded copy?) 2nd ed. (1st Paris 1541) of a Renaissance imitation of a medieval French Arthurian novel. The “Chevalier doré est un roman fabriqué à partir des morceaux du Perceforest” (G. Polizzi). Large woodcut on title and 39 woodcuts in text. Ref.
