19th-c. gold-tooled cherry morocco by Lortic, covers with blind-ruled frames and gilt central ornament and corner pcs, gilt spine on 5 raised bands, gilt sides, richly gilt inside dentelles, a.e.g. (over marbl. edges), marbl. endpapers, green marker. Excellent copy.

Original edition (re-issued Douai 1606) of the French trsl of Petrarch’s lyrical verse by the Bruges alderman Ph. de Maldeghem (1547-1611), later active at the court of the Dukes of Bavaria. Copy with 3 autograph author’s inscriptions: “corrigé par la main de l’autheur des fautes de l’imprimeur” (Mm8v), “Ciuitatis & agri Brouckburgensis nob: | & preclaro senatui: Author D[ono] D[at]” (at bottom of title), copy of a letter written (München 24 July 1600) to Maximilian I, Elector of Bavaria (1573-1651) (on +3v - loosely inserted a 20th-c.
