Old blind-stamped pigskin over wood, edges bevelled inside, spine on 5 raised bands, upper cover embossed with 2 large metal clasps on thick pigskin leather, marbled edges (sl. soiled). Beautiful well-preserved copy.

Vellum copy of the monumental missal for the Cathedral of the Holy Saviour in Aix-en-Provence. With 4 (of 7) full-page illustrations (title, 1r, 103r, A1r, but lacking the final prelim. f., and ff. 157-158 with Crucifixion and Canon Missae). Border decoration on f. clxvr. Hundreds of hand-coloured 3/5-line initials in text. Printed liturgical music on ff. 64r-66r, 82v-91r, 99r-101v, 151v-156v, 163r-v, 170r-172r. Title in red within elaborate woodcut border. Woodcut head border throughout. Printed in red & black, in gothic type, in 2 cols, within ruled border. Ref.
