“The name" Jehan Norins" appears at the foot of an effective design of acorns, surrounded by an ornamental border on a stamp of small dimensions.” (W. Salt Brassington, A history of the art of bookbinding, 1894, p. 133). This French binder was active at Louvain (according to Pr. Verheyden in De Gulden Passer 1941 p. 211). The device “phrisia nobilis” (Prov.) and the extensive annotations to the Aulularia seem to indicate that this volume belonged to a Frisian student of Louvain University’s Collegium Trilingue. Woodcut mark at the end. Printed in italics. Ref. VD-16 P-3382. - Adams P-1488. - STC German (BL) 703. Prov. Ff. 41-56 (Aulularia) extensivily annotated in tiny cont. handwriting. - Cont. ownership entries and devices on flylvs i.a. “effloreat phrisia nobilis”. - [Georges Petit].
