19th-c. gold-tooled burgundy morocco, covers with triple gilt ruled border with gilt corner pieces, richly gilt spine with raised bands, a.e.g., gilt inside dent. (sl. rubbed, sm. def. at head and front joint). Excellent copy.

Rare 2nd 4to ed. (after the 1656 4to ed.) of the classic French translation by P. Corneille (1606-1684), first publ. Rouen 1651-1652. Engr. front. and 4 full-page engr. by F. Chauveau.
