1 to 4 pp., various formats, in French and Dutch, some with letterhead "Lemmens-Gesticht" and "Institut Lemmens" (some foxing, some tears without loss, sm. stains, ink stains whose acidity has partly consumed the paper at the bottom of a letter with min. loss on 2 lines).
Interesting and hearty correspondence mainly addressed to his friends, the brothers Emile and Gustave Baetens, Gustave's wife Leontine ("Chère Madame", "Zeer geachte Mevrouw") and their daughter Bertha, in Lokeren. Subjects: musical life, concert tour in Germany, Joseph Rubinstein, etc. Charming short ms. musical score "Liedeken", dedicated "voor mijne lieve kleine Bertha". Printed doc: "Hulde door de St Gregorius-Vereniging van Mechelen gebracht aan de gevierden Vlaamschen toonkundige Edgar Tinel [...]" (bifolio 16mo),- art. on Pierre Busschaert by Tinel ("Musica Sacra", 25-01-1892). Tinel (1854-1912), Belgian composer and pianist, was inspector of music education, professor and director of the Brussels Conservatory, maître de chapelle to the king, and director of the "Mechels instituut voor religieuze muziek" (later "Lemmensinstituut").
