Contemp. sheep, blind-ruled covers, red leather title label on gilt-orn. spine with raised bands (joints rubbed, corners bumped).

Elzevier edition of the translation by P. Du Ryer of the famous Catholic version of the Dutch Revolt by the Italian Jesuit F. Strada (1572-1649). Ill. with a full-page portrait of Charles V and 12 in-text portraits. Title in red and black, with the famous printer's mark "le Solitaire". Only first vol. present (second vol. published in 1652).
