3 parts in 2 vol., folio: [36]-707-[117], [8]-678-[118] pp. (prov. marks cut on half-titles without loss of text, occ. spotting, marg. water stains on some ff. and ff. E3-4 loose in part 3, old annot. on title of pt. 1).
Contemp. blind-stamped calf, large fillets and rolls frame on boards with 4 green cloth ribbons, gilt-ruled spine with raised bands and labels, green edges (some scratches on boards, min. cracking and occ. wormholes on spines, labels partly missing, min. def. on endcaps).
First edition of this extensive history of Brabant (615-1623), with special attention to the recent period of the Dutch Revolt, by Haraeus (1550-1632), professor of rhetoric in Douai, later canon at Leuven. Engr. ill.: 2 nice allegoric titles by C. Galle and L. Vorsterman after Rubens and 44 fine full-page portraits of i.a. Dukes of Brabant, Princes of the former Low Countries, and Albert & Isabella. At end of each vol. woodcut printer's mark.
