Contemp. calf, gilt-orn. spine with raised bands, red edges (def., corners, head and tail missing, joints split).

Rare first edition of the "Grand Oppenord" continuing the publication of Oppenord's "Oeuvres" by Huquier after his death. Illustrated with 120 copper-engravings by Huquier on 83 leaves: title within a rich portico, "Avis aux amateurs de dessin", third plate in first state, i.e. with the cartouche before the impression of the portrait, and 79 engr. representing ornaments and decorations for interiors, chimneys, altars, fountains, etc. The architect, draughtsman and engraver Oppenord (1672-1742), was an important contributor to the development of rococo style in Europe and was i.a. the chief architect for the church of Saint-Sulpice from 1725 to 1731.
