Very rare first edition of the famous baroque pictorial Bible of J.U. Krauss (1655-1719). Complete with 146 engraved pl., consisting of 5 Gothic calligraphed part titles, 5 architectural front. for each part and 136 splendid numb. full-page double illustrations, each with a biblical scene, one or more historical scenes inside a nicely decorated border and a biblical caption in German. Two pl. numb. 60. Pl. 40 and 86 show sm. maps of the Holy Land and Arabia, and a plan of Jerusalem. The 5 parts: 1. Patriarchen (pl. 1-22; 1700 on title); 2. Richter in Israel (pl. 23-44; 1699); 3. Könige in Jerusalem (pl. 45-76; 1698); 4. Propheten (pl. 77-112; 1698); 5. Apostel (pl. 113-135; 1700).
