8vo: [88] ff. (some marg. toning, minor soiling and thumbing, stain at top of C8v).
18th-c. sheep, gilt spine on 4 raised bands, sp. edges, marbl. pastedowns (rubbed, head def.). Very good copy.
Extr. rare French Book of Hours (5th recorded copy?). Almanac in French for 1510-1525 (a2r-a5r). With the complete set of Hardouyn’s 8vo-size Horae illustrations: (1) 18 large metalcuts (i.a. Passion, Annunciation, Crucifixion, Pentecost, Nativity, Adoration of the Magi, Flight to Egypt) and (2) a large anatomical skeleton and 30 small portrait metalcuts. Illuminated in gold and colours by a cont. hand, sm. gold initials with blue and red penwork, paragraph marks and line-fillers on red or blue ground. At the end a 10-page manuscript addition in cont. handwriting (and 1 "blank" ruled leaf), containing a half-page miniature and 16 Latin prayers with a preface and a postscript in French. Ref.
