Very rare first edition of this weighty theological work by the Picardian Protestant theology professor at Groningen S. Desmarets (Oisemont 1599-1673 Groningen). It is a reaction on the posthumous ed. of the book (1657; 1st 1647) of the Amsterdam Protestant history professor David Blondel (1591-1655), in which Blondel debunks the myth of the legendary 9th-c. female pope Joan.
