Contemp. sheep, gilt-orn. spine with 5 raised bands and gilt title (joint partly split, 1 corner sl. bumped).
First and only edition of this religious and topographical description of the Archbishopric of Mechelen (Mechelen, Leuven, Diest, Brussels, Aalst, etc.) by the Mechelen priest and historian C. Van Gestel (1658-1748). Engr. ill.: 1 folding map of the Archbishopric of Mechelen, 3 fold. views of St Rumbold's Church, St Michael and St Gudula Cathedral and St Peter's Church at Leuven by J. Harrewijn, 9 portraits and 10 funeral monuments or inscriptions (4 double-page or folding and some signed by D. Coster), 1 sm. text ill. of coins, 2 title-vign. by D. Coster and 1 half-page coat of arms of the dedicatee Thomas Philipp. Title in red and black.
