Early 19th-c. marbled calf, gilt triple fillet frame on boards, gilt orn. flat spine, red title-label (def. on upper turn-in, some wormholes on spine, rubbing on cuts and joints). Inside good copy.

A charming and rare Augsburg print catechism by the engraver and printer J. Chr. Haffner (1668-1754). Ff. 3, 16, 24, 40 & 51 printed in letterpress on recto & verso, the other leaves entirely engraved on 1 side: title, foreword and 102 numbered full-page engravings with captions in Latin and German, showing scenes from the New Testament, the Ten Commandments, all kinds of sins and the Good Works. Just like in the few digitized copies we found, f. 77 is in our copy not present. We suppose this f. is always missing.
