Contemp. red shagreen, blind and gilt-ruled frame on boards, gilt coat of arms on upper board, blind and gilt-ruled spine with raised bands, white moiré paper doublures framed with a gilt roll, white moiré endpapers, a.e.g. (some min. rubbing, light dark and white stains, boards with some scratches, front joint starting to split, headbands part. missing, corners bumped).

Second edition (1st ed.: 1830). Plates I to VI contain all crowns and arms of the Dutch Royal Family. Pages VII to CCXVI each show 6 coats of arms (only pl. CCIV and CCXVII have just 2). Coats of arms enhanced with watercolour and gouache (except front. and 13 last pl.).

Prov. Baron Don Antonio Lopez Suasso Diaz de Fonseca (Amsterdam 1776-1857 Mechelen), from a Portuguese-Israelite family, officer in the British army in the West Indies and author of several books (supralibros, arms reproduced on pl. CXCVII; ref. Rietstap IV:89; NNBW VIII:555-556).
