3 vol., 4to: [10 incl. front. & portr.]-289-[1 bl.], [8]-440, [8]-334-[40] pp. (some spotting or light browning, some worming in blank margin of vol. III, cancellans pl. pasted on p. 84 vol. I).
Contemp. marbled calf, gilt spines with 5 raised bands (joints sl. rubbed, tail vol. III def.), red leather title labels, marbled edges. Good copy.
Complete Dutch trsl. of Ovid, 1st publ. 1678, by A. Valentyn, corrector of the Dordrecht Latin School. With the extensive annotations by the physician and historian L. Smids (1649-1720). Engr. ill.: 3 front. by J. van Vianen after J. Goeree, title-vign. depicting author's portrait, full-page author's portrait, 1 full-page plate, 2 endpieces, 26 numb. illustrations of statues by S. Thomassin, 42 coin ill. and 230 fine engraved text ill., after the French artist Sébastien Leclerc (1637-1714), copied from the French "Métamorphoses" (Paris 1676).
