First edition of this short but influential text by the Italian humanist F. Beroaldo the Elder (1453-1505), professor of rhetoric and poetry in Paris and Bologna. The author recounts the story of three brothers; a libertine, a drunkard and a gambler. Each one defends himself against the other two with classical and Christian literary references. Capital spaces with guide-letters. A 3-line initial and three 2-line initials in red or blue. Some rubrication in red or blue. Large woodcut printer's mark at end. Old bookmark in silk. Ref.
