13 vol., 4to: all in splendid condition except for minor defects.
1. First voyage: Hawkesworth, J. - Relation des voyages entrepris par ordre de sa Majesté britannique [...]; pour faire des découvertes dans l'hémisphère méridional, et successivement exécutés par le commodore Byron, le capitaine Carteret, le capitaine Wallis et le capitaine Cook dans les vaisseaux le Dauphin, le Swallow et l'Endeavour. Paris, Saillant et Nyon, Panckoucke, 1774. 4 vol.: [4]-iv-xvi-[2]-xxxii-388, [6]-536, [6]-394-[1], viii-[2]-367 pp. (some fold. pl. sl. wrinkled and occ. with a sm. marg. tear, a few pp. sl. toned, large tear without loss in vol. 3 on p. 271, occ. damp stains, esp. vol. 3 and 4, with a tiny bit of moulding). 2. Second voyage: Cook, J. - Voyage dans l'hémisphère austral, et autour du monde, fait sur les vaisseaux de [sic] roi, l'Aventure, & la Résolution, en 1772, 1773, 1774 & 1775 [...]. Paris, Hôtel de Thou, 1778. 5 vol.: xii-v/xliv-460, viii-432, viii-374, viii-413-[3], xii-510-[2] pp. (minor foxing, sl. browned, sm. defects). Contemp. mottled calf, gilt tooled covers, gilt decorated spine with 5 raised bands (sm. defects, some wormholes). "A voyage towards the South Pole" (1st ed.: London, 1777) by J.-B.-A. Suard (1732-1817), complete with 66 engr. pl. (num. 1-65 + 10 bis) , incl. J. Cook's portrait and a large map of the southern hemisphere with the most important navigations and discoveries. The 5th vol. "Observations", written by J.R. Forster and dealing with geography, atmospheric science and vegetation is illustrated with a South Sea map according to Tahitian sources and a linguistic table. A 2nd linguistic table in vol. 4. Ref. Contemp. mottled calf, gilt tooled covers, gilt decorated spine with 5 raised bands (very few tr. of use and some wormholes). "A Voyage to the Pacific Ocean [...]" (1st ed.: London, 1784) by Jean-Nicolas Démeunier, with 88 engr. pl. (numbered irregularly), incl. a frontispiece with Cook's death and Henri Robert's world map with Cook's discoveries. Ref.
