2 vol., 8vo: xxxi [incl. portr.]-[1 bl.]-247, 286 pp. (some spotting at 1st ff. of vol. I, blank margin f. H8 of vol. II rep.).
Early 19th-c. half sheep (boards sl. rubbed), gilt & blind stamped flat spines (sl. rubbed), red leather title labels, yellow edges with red sp. Good copy.
New edition (1st Amsterdam 1771) of this translated work (incl. in English). Complete with the engr. portr. by Töpffer after Stoddart. Jean-Louis de Lolme (1740-1806) was a lawyer and member of the "Conseil des Deux-Cent" of the Republic of Geneva. His survey of the English constitution was a very valuable source for both French legislators and American revolutionaries.
