3 parts in 1 vol., 12mo: [48 incl. front.]-641 [= 649]-[45]-[2 bl.], [8]-64, 24 pp.; 4 pl. (sl. dampstaining, some large).
Contemp. overl. vellum, ink titled flat spine.
Important early study of Roman funerals (1st: 1605) by the German scholar Kirchmann (1575-1643). Illustrated with a frontispiece and 4 fold. plates by Romeyn De Hooghe. The 2nd part is the funeral oration pronounced by Kirchmann for Paul Merula (1558-1607), Dutch jurist and geographer. The 3rd is a satire on corpse parasites by the French classical scholar and librarian Nicolas Rigault (1577-1654).
