Engravings, ca. 21 x 18 cm, laid paper, one signed in the plate "JDavid F.", all with address "F. L. D. Ciartres excudit Cum Priuilegio" (with variations), with additional inscriptions of designers and subjects (one with repair at bottom centre, small inscription in pencil and small tear at top right; one cut to image with dampstain at top right).
One loose, one laid down on cardboard, one mounted on modern wove paper.
From a series of portraits of rulers published by François Langlois dit Chartres or Ciartres (1588-1647). At least one plate was engraved by Jérôme David (ca. 1605-1670). The portrait of Paracoussi, a Patagonian chief from near the Rio de la Plata ("PARACOUSSI REX PLATTAE"), after Claude Vignon and numbered 12 at top right. The portrait of a Tatar king ("M. CHAM. REX TARTARIE") after Padovanino. The portrait of Gaston de Foix ("GASTO FOISSEIUS") after Rembrandt.
