Drawing, black and red chalk, 47,3 x 32,5 cm (visible), wove paper, signed and dated at bottom: "J Laudy / 14.4.19" (few light creases, one scratch on the left eyebrow).
Under passe-partout and sculpted, gilt wooden Art Deco frame (not studied outside frame).
Portrait of the Belgian printmaker and painter Gérard Roosen (1869-1935) by his teacher Jean Laudy (1877-1956). An autobiographical note by the sitter on the verso is visible through a passe-partout and identifies the subject: "Ceci représente la tête de Gérard Roosen, né en 1869 le 4 Avril à Louvain, devenu lithographe, dessinateur typographique, Professeur pour la beauté du livre à Bruxelles et à Charleroi. Plus tard Peintre et élève de Jean Laudy. À l'âge de 51 ans. G Roosen."
