1st half 17th c

Engraving, 29,2 x 21,8 cm, laid paper, signed in the plate in margin at bottom left: "Antonius van Dyck inuentor." and right: "Paulus Pontius sculpsit.", two columns of Latin text with a Latin dedication below (some spots, light stain at top right).

Laid down on passe-partout. Good, early impression.

Related paintings by Van Dyck in London (Dulwich Picture Gallery, inv. DPG090) and Cambridge (Fitzwilliam Museum, inv. PD.48-1976). Fourth state with the dedication by Van Dyck to Antonius Triest (1577-1657), Bishop of Bruges and subsequently Ghent. Before the address of Anton Bonenfant (died 1644).
