Folio: [406 (of 408)] ff., 40-49 ll., 2 cols. (lacking initial and final blank; 5 ff. from another, shorter copy, with a clear dampstain in the upper half; old pen foliation, cropped at fore-edge; 3 final ff. cut short and mounted; some marg. soiling or staining; a number of bottom edges repaired or strengthened).
18th-c. gilt mottled calf, covers with triple gilt ruled border, elaborately gilt flat spine with title labels, marbl. edges, marbl. endpapers, red silk marker (rubbed, head def., joints starting to split at tail). Very good copy with wide margins.
Editio princeps (and the first of three incunable editions) of a major work by the Low Countries Franciscan Hendrik Herp (d. 1477). It contains 213 sermons, and was the only work published in his lifetime. Red woodcut mark at the end. Rubricated throughout in red or blue. Some initials in red and blue penwork (on 1st text p. extending into the margin). Ref.
