Very rare important collections of letters written by Jesuit missionaries in Japan and the East Indies, here for the first time published together. The first part contains letters primarily from missionaries in the East Indies such as Gaspar Berse (mentioning Arabia and Hormuz Island), Henricus Henriquez, Antonius Quadrus, Michael Barulus, Emanuel Tesceira, Joannes Meschita and Joannes Berra. And the second contains letters primarily from missionaries in Japan such as Francisco Xavier, Pedro Alcaçova, Baltasar Goa, Melchior Nunes Barreto, Luís de Almeida and Gaspar Vilela.
