Description du lot
Drawing, graphite pencil, 17,4 x 26,5 cm, thick drawing paper, unsigned (two white spots in centre, some min. foxing).
Mounted on paper by upper corners.
Nice view of the Venetian Lagoon with fishing boats on the foreground and the silhouette of Murano in the back. On the verso side are a few sketches of Venetian bridges and architectural details. Johann Friendrich Hennings (1838-1899) was a German Romantic landscape painter who stayed in Venice and Rome between 1855 and 1861, before settling in Munich. This drawing is attributed to Hennings on the mount and probably dates from his "Italienische Reise".
