Watercolour, 74 x 54 cm, monogrammed SP on the lower left corner.

Glass, golden passepartout and golden plaster frame (some parts missing) with author's name beneath.

Group of figures standing within a grand porch. The internal walls are decorated with columns, decorative friezes and sculptures of saints. With trees behind columns and French inscription on the lower left corner: "Tronc pour les hospic[es]". Very close to the watercolour held in the Walker Art Gallery collections (smaller size, ref. http://www.liverpoolmuseums.org.uk/walker/collections/works-on-paper/item-236502.aspx). The English artist and draughtsman master Prout (1783-1852) was specialised in continental architectural subjects.
