Woodburytype (?) photo print (faded and browned), 20 x 15 cm (oval), stuck on cardboard with embossing stamp, handwritten signed dedication "A Monsieur Deverveldt, souvenir cordial".
Gambetta (1838-1882) was one of the most important political figures of the first years of the Third Republic and plays a key role in the survival of the republican regime in France after the fall of the Second Empire. Carjat (1823-1906) was a renowned caricaturist as well as a photographer, a career he started about 1858.
