Description du lot
Drawing, red chalk, 20,7 x 14,6 cm, thick laid paper, unsigned (min. stains).
Under passe-partout.
Three female figures (the Arts?) paying tribute to an escutcheon with a cardinal's hat. In the right background a classical statue. At the top left Fama is blowing praise. Possibly a bookplate design. Giampietro Zanotti (1674-1755) was a famous artist from Bologna. In the first decade of the 18th century, he became one of the founding members of the Accademia Clementina. He is now mostly remembered for his writings on art of the late-Baroque or Rococo period. With an attribution at bottom in a 18th-c. hand: "Di Giampietro Cavazzoni Zanotti. Pittore e celebre poeta."
