Description du lot

Coloured lithography, 43 x 53,5 cm, velin paper, unsigned.

Original litho issued by the Grand Orient of Belgium (Belgium's largest and most influential Freemasons lodge). It was founded in 1833, three years after the independence of Belgium, and joined the Grand Orient of France and other Continental jurisdictions in not requiring initiates to believe in a Supreme Being. Leopold I was one of the founding members of the Lodge and at one time was even considered for the position of Grandmaster. At his death a grand ceremony was held at the temple, honouring the support given to the Lodge by the first King of the Belgians (1790-1865). The event took place on 10 February 1866. With ms. note by the Grandmaster Joseph van Schoor to F. L[ouis]. Ranwet.
Joined: Calendrier Franc-Maçonnique. 1865. Paris, F. Legris. Affiche, 32 x 44 cm, velin paper. (2 pcs)
