17th-c. richly gold-tooled leather, covers with a semé of gilt French lilies, central coat of arms and ornamental border, richly gilt spine with 5 raised bands, a.e.g. (sl. rubbed, some def. at head, upper cover and corners). Good copy.

Lyon repr. of an extensive polemical treatise by St Petrus Canisius (1521-1597), 1st publ. Dillingen 1571. 14 full-page woodcuts (and 1 small). Woodcut mark on title and part title. Printed in 2 col. within ruled borders. Long strip of a (partially covered) medieval vellum ms. bound with at the end (between text and flyleaves).
