3 parts in 1 vol., folio: [8]-92 [= 100]-84-320 [= 336]-40-[4] pp. (sm. stains on title, first 3 maps and last text f. (because of erasure of ownership stamps), centre fold of folding map partly strengthened, some toning and scattered spotting).
Old gilt-tooled speckled calf (scratches), covers with gilt ornament within double gilt-ruled frame and corner-pieces, gilt decor. spine with 6 raised bands, gilt sides, sp. edges. Very good copy.
First and only Dutch edition of a description of the Greek Isles and the Eastern Mediterranean by O. Dapper (1639-1689). Engr. ill.: allegorical front., 14 full-page and 47 half-page pl. with many rare views and 18 double-page plates (2 folding) showing coastal views and maps, i.a. a large "Zee kaerte van de archipel en archipelsche eylanden", North & South Aegean Sea, Cyprus, Rhodos, Chios, Euboea, Crete, Callipolis, incl. 1 pl. not in the index: "Candia", showing a view and a plan of the capital of Crete.
