Description du lot
50 x 57 cm, on vellum, in German, pen, brown ink and gold, painted coat of arms, signed at bottom right, large ivory button affixed to a long polychrome embroidered silk ribbon decorated with a floral guirlande (sm. stains, marginal soiling, ribbon frayed in places but complete).
Nicely calligraphed document signed by J. Heintze, "Hof- und Lustgärtner" (court and pleasure gardener) of the Landgrave Wilhelm VIII of Hesse-Kassel (1682-1760), whose coat of arms is represented. In 1643, the Hessian landgravine Amalie Elisabeth, widow of Wilhelm V, bought the Amelgotzen estate in Calden (near Cassel) and turned it into a country residence under the name Amalienthal. Between 1743 and 1761, Wilhelm VIII built there his own pleasure palace, Schloss Wilhelmstahl.
