Half cloth (front inner hinge loose), boards with marbled paper (rubbed), gilt black leather title label on front cover. Good copy.
Extremely rare (made-up?) album with 20 lithographed plates (of which 17 "sur fond teinté"; most pl. animated) showing the major Ghent medieval monuments and the new public buildings built in the 1820s and 1830s. Each plate (except map) with Tessaro blind stamp and the lithogr. mention "Publié par Tessaro & Cie". Captions in French and English. Contents: 1 "Nouveau plan de la ville de Gand, 1838", 1 double-page pl. "General view of the town and railway station", lithogr. by Th. Fourmois after Vermeersch and printed by Degobert (Brussels) and 14 plates (of which 2 double-page) lithogr. by H. Borremans (Brussels) and 4 plates by F. & E. Gyselynck (Ghent), showing i.a. the "Front view" and "General view" of the station (both double-page), "The town hall", "Corn market and St. Nicolas church" and "Little Corn market", "Corn Key and St. Michael Church", "Palace of Justice", "Front of the university", "Front of the theatre", "Society of the Casino", "The castle of the counts of Flanders", "Interior of St. Peter", "St. Bavo's Church", etc.
