Folio: [36]-1492-[52 (of 60)] pp. (missing 4 ff. at the end: A3-4 & E5 (index ff.) and E6 (last f. with Plantin mark); paper toned, staining esp. at mouldy bottom corner throughout and more spread out at beginning and end of vol., first and last few ff. frayed and with some sm. def. in bl. margin, a few sm. tears or hole in blank margin, taking a few letters at pp. 235-6, 1 bottom corner torn off and 2 strengthened, some local minor soiling, lower endpaper missing).

Contemp. blind-stamped vellum (soiled & defective), spine with 6 raised bands (tail missing). Copy with large margins, in rather bad condition.

The last and most extensive of all Plantin Press editions of the great botanical encyclopaedia by Rembert Dodoens (1517-1585). Illustrated with an engr. title with medallion portraits of Dodoens and Clusius and some 1430 woodcut ill. of plants and herbs.
