Folio: [8]-272-[8] pp. (title frayed, some spotting & browning, some tears & sm. repairs, mostly in blank margin, 2 large tears in text repaired, repairs to 2 folding pl.).
Contemp. speckled calf (sl. soiled, corners bumped), gilt spine with 6 raised bands (joints split, head & tail def.), red leather title label.
Rare first and only edition of this work based upon Jean Blondeau's unpublished manuscript "Commentaires sur le roman pays de Brabant" and upon Gramaye's "Gallo-Brabantia". Dedicated to the Bavarian Elector and last Governor of the Spanish Netherlands Maximilian II (1662-1726). Engr. ill.: front. after Abraham van Diepenbeeck, the "Schema metallorum et colorum", dedicatory armorial head- and endpiece, full-page map of the Gallo-Roman province "Romandua", 35 pl. in-text, 10 full-page and 2 folding plates, all showing castles (Loupogne, Froidmont, Gembloux, Bornival, Ittre, Ottignies, Couroy, Clabecq, Argenteau...), and 7 full-page pl. representing tombstones, sepulchral monuments, heraldic weapons and seals, all engraved by J. Harrewijn, F. Erlinger and J.V.C. Léonard. Some woodcut coats of arms.
