2 parts in 1 vol., folio: [10]-289-[1 bl.], [2]-328-[2] pp. (spotting and occ. browning; part I: dampstaining, esp. in first quires; part II: blank corner of f. Nnn1 cut out).
19th-c. black half shagreen (some scratches), marbled paper on covers, gilt spine with 5 raised bands. Good copy.
First and only edition of this religious and topographical description of the Archbishopric of Mechelen (Mechelen, Leuven, Diest, Brussels, Aalst, etc.) by the Mechelen priest and historian C. Van Gestel (1658-1748). Engr. ill.: 2 title-vign. by D. Coster, 1 half-page coat of arms of the dedicatee Thomas Philippo, 2 folding maps of western and eastern part of the Archbishopric of Mechelen, 3 folding views of St Rumbold's Church, St Michael and St Gudula Cathedral and St Peter's Church at Leuven by J. Harrewijn, 9 portraits and 10 funeral monuments or inscriptions (3 fold. and some signed by D. Coster) and 1 sm. text ill. of coins. Title in red & black.
