3 (of 5) vol., large obl. 4to: [2]-94-[2], [2]-94-[2], [2]-94-[1] pp. (2nd and 4th series missing, occ. sl. foxing, lack of paper without loss in the 1st vol., p. 21, occ. margin. tears, one of 15 cm in the last vol., p. 1; very marginal water stains).
Publisher's cloth (1st vol. bordeaux, 2nd red, and 3rd purple), blind fillets frame on the boards, gilt illustrated title on upper boards, flat spines (sl. rubbed, some stains, last vol. partially insolated).
First edition of the 1st, 3rd, and 5th series of a selection of cartoons by Leech (1817-1864), all published in "Punch", the influential weekly satirical and humorous magazine founded in 1841. "This book is better than plum-cake at Christmas" (William Makepeace Thackeray - Early & late papers hitherto uncollected. Boston, 1867, p. 131).
