First edition of this work on happiness and how to achieve it, written by Augustine (354-430), bishop of Hippo, and one of the most influential authors of Christian Antiquity. It is followed by "De honestate mulierum", also known as "De fuga mulierum" (sermo 41), attributed to Caesarius of Arles, and "De honestate vita" by pseudo-Bernard of Clairvaux. The authorship of the last work is disputed. Some ascribe it to Bernardus Silvestris. Printed in gothic type. Ref.
