Iron etching plate, 10,7 x 13,5 cm, signed and dated at lower right "H U Franck 1656" (some oxidation spots).

The original etching plate to one of the prints in the series "Scenes of War" (25 pl.), depicting scenes of suffering and fighting during the Thirty Years War in Germany. They can be seen as a response to Callot's more famous series of etchings "Les misères et malheurs de la guerre" on the same subject.
