4to (ca. 20 x 15,5 cm), some [200] ff. + ill., on paper, in Latin.
Contemp. gilt calf, covers with gilt ruled border and central ornament (Ex Cathedra p. 236: P2 & P3), gilt spine with 4 raised bands, blue edges, blue silk ties (sl. rubbed, 1 tie partly gone). In excellent condition.
Very early Leuven philosophy courses, written by the Namur student Artus Noël ("ex S[anc]to Germano Namurco Leodius"). The 1st course was taught by the theologian Henricus Werpen, the 2nd by the theologian Joannes Dycelius (?).
Illustration: numerous calligraphic headings and initials in red and blue; 2 engr. front. (Ex Cathedra 3.3.2 & 2.1); 23 nice engr. portraits by Petrus de Jode from the 1652 "Theatrum pontificum [...]"; between the 2 courses 4 drawings: 2 hearts, playing cards and dice, full-p. drawing of "Verloorcost torne"; at end 4 full-p. drawn borders (i.a. heart, ship); full-p. allegorical engr. "Death" by P. de Jode.
