Dutch trsl. of "Praeadamitae" (1655), in which La Peyrère (1596-1676) asserted that there were human beings before Adam. His approach to Biblical scholarship argued that the Bible was just the story of the Jewish people, not of all humanity. His book and "heretical" views were quickly banned. Folding engraved map of the Holy Land. STCN mentions 11 copies of this book, of which only 2 contain quire Z (= pp. 509-516, "Aan alle vergaderingen der Joden [...] en houdt moet en voorspoed"), that was later added. Of these 2 copies, only 1 has the map present.
