First edition of this extensive survey on the whole of Great Britain, published weekly in 60 parts and overseen by the British topographical writer G.A. Walpoole. Engr. ill.: frontisp., 88 pl. showing topographical views (1-3 per page: towns, residences, castles, churches, ...) and 23 maps, of which 4 folding. The chief interest of this book lies in its great detail, as a source book for British settlements at a time of great industrial and social change.
