Drawing, watercolour, 15,5 x 24,3 cm, thick vellum paper, signed at lower left and on verso "COROT" (lower corners torn, glue marks on verso).
This famous painter of the French Barbizon school, Camille Jean-Baptiste Corot (1797-1875) often painted views of the large pond on the property he had inherited from his parents at Ville-d'Avray. Testimony to this are his paintings on canvas of the lakeside, now at the National Gallery in Washington D.C., and the Metropolitan Museum New York (inv. 87.15.141).
