8vo: [36]-149 ff. (some light marginal dampstaining in bl. margins, rare contemp. ms. annot.).
Contemp. calf, blind-st. central element on covers surrounded by blind-ruled fillets and gilt fleurons, gilt. ornam. spine with raised bands (spine repaired, some sm. def.).
Rare first edition of this treatise by the Benedictine Périon (1498/99-1559) in which, after Budé, he defended the thesis of the Greek origin of the French language. He's a humanist known for being one of the translators of the Aristotelian corpus using the method imported from Italy and invented by Leonardo Bruni, inspired by Ciceronian Latin.
